According to Wikipedia, the first straws were used by the Sumerians in circa 2700 B.C. to drink beer. The originals straws were made out of hallow grass, and bone. Then in 1888 Marvin C. Stone patented a more modern version of the straw made from paper and covered in wax. The straw has evolved since 1888 to now be made out of plastic, made to be crazy, to include a spoon at the end, and in 2006 the Litestraw became a patented reality.

The Litestraw is an original glowing twist on an old design. It is an actual drinking straw that can be used for drinking water, milk, or your favorite adult beverage. The straw offers 3 mesmerizing modes of light that can be activated by a push of the button. The first push of the button starts the first mode which the lights start at the bottom and light one by one to the top (all very quickly),  The 2nd mode is the blinking mode, where all 5 LEDs blink together, on and off.
